St John's Holidays for Children Trust (SJHCT) is a small charity which runs an annual residential holiday – more affectionately known as “Kids’ Week” - for children with special needs.

It gives parents a much needed break from around the clock childcare and it is a fantastic adventure for the children we take away and the volunteers who care for them.

Children

We support families by taking children with physical and learning difficulties on holiday from the Thames Valley area. Parents, social workers, and schools can apply for a child to go on one of our holidays.

Volunteers

Helpers on the holidays come through personal referral. If you are interested in volunteering, a good start would be to attend a SJHCT social event and meet some current volunteers who can answer any questions you might have.

Fundraising

All fundraising is conducted by volunteers with the charity and includes a range of social events, including a black tie ball.

Holidays

Kid’s Week is an opportunity for parents to get a break from childcare and gives children and volunteers new experiences which they can enjoy, and through which they can grow.

During the holidays, children take part in a range of activities and trips such as arts and crafts, swimming, bowling, the cinema, a dance class, an inflatable obstacle course, and a theme park.

We take approximately 25 children each year to St John’s Beaumont, a school in Old Windsor. During the course of their week long stay children take part in activities which are designed to meet the needs of children with a wide range of abilities and interests.
